How you can help

Volunteers are the lifeblood of animal rescue.  Can you set aside some time to help in the rescue process?  There are many ways in which you might be of service.
If you are interested, please fill out the volunteer application and return it to the shelter.

Volunteer/Cage Cleaners   Each day each cage must be cleaned thoroughly.  Each cage is sterilized and bedding is changed.  Floors are swept and laundry is done.  Kennel Attendants may also be asked to help provide food and water for the birds.

Weekend Work Events:   Each month Mollywood holds a volunteer weekend. These weekends usually consist of taking care of large projects like building aviaries and clearing out spaces to put them. Please contact Mollywood for future dates.

Public Speaking: Would you be comfortable speaking to a small group?  Area schools, clubs and organizations sometimes ask us to come talk with them about pet care or animal rescue. This position will require at least 20 hours of volunteer work at the sanctuary to fully understand the organization and its work.

Fundraising:  This one is wide open.  Do you have a great idea?  Can you organize it and get others involved to make it work?  We're listening!  We are currently looking for volunteers to work tables at local supermarkets and pet stores to solicit donations of goods and funds.

Grant Writing:   If you have experience in grant writing this might be perfect for you.  There are many corporation, organizations and charitable foundations with grant money available.  This can be done in your home in your spare time.

Drivers:  This involves picking up animals from all over the state of Washington.  Also you may be asked to pick up donations of pet foods and supplies.  Sometimes we have as much as a day's notice, sometimes we need a driver immediately.  

Foster Care: A foster home must be able to provide a safe, warm place isolated from other pets.  The birds need lots of human contact to help develop confidence and social skills.  Supplies such as food, litter and bedding is generally provided by the foster home. You must spend time at the sanctuary as a volunteer to qualify as a foster home.
